Young people in Mansfield Park are coming together — to make real friends, find real purpose, and build something that actually matters.
Save My Spot — It's FreeYoung people from around Mansfield Park are waking up to an idea: that they can shape what their neighbourhood looks and feels like. Not waiting for someone else. Not watching from the sidelines.
At The Parks Library, we're gathering for the first time to ask the simple but powerful question — what kind of community do we want to build together?
This is the beginning. Come and be part of it.
Everything we do is driven by two simple ideas — and both start with you.
Mansfield Park is shaped by the people who show up for it. Through conversations, creative work, sport, and shared meals, we figure out — together — what kind of neighbourhood this can actually become. Especially for the kids growing up here right now.
The program has a way of revealing things about yourself that you didn't know were there. You'll be stretched. You'll figure out what you actually stand for. You'll leave different — not just more capable, but more yourself.
Part of what you'd be doing here is mentoring younger kids — 12 to 14-year-olds who are at a stage you were at not long ago. You'd be their animator: not a teacher, not a parent — someone who actually gets it because they've been there recently. Someone worth listening to.
You're not just growing yourself. You're lifting up the generation coming right behind you — showing them what it looks like to care, to show up, and to take responsibility for something. That changes you in ways you won't expect.
Being a JY animator isn't a side role — it's the heart of what we do.
This isn't about followers or group chats that go quiet. The friendships built here are different — forged through actually doing something together, showing up when it counts, and genuinely caring about something bigger than yourselves.
Youth who've been part of these gatherings talk about lifelong bonds. Mates who become like family. Real mutual support and assistance — the kind you can only build when you're working shoulder-to-shoulder for your community.
Come ready to make friends. Real ones.
No lectures. No boring workshops. Just real people, real conversations, and good energy.
We talk about what actually matters — our neighbourhood, our goals, and how young people like us can make a real difference.
Creative activities that let you think differently, express what you care about, and connect with people you'd never normally meet.
Get active together. Sport is one of the best ways to break the ice, build team spirit, and just have a great time.
Share a meal. Some of the best conversations — and best friendships — start around food. We'll have you covered.
Real reflections from participants in this program — in communities around the world where it has been running for years.
"It is the responsibility of every person to share whatever they learn with others — that is best. Just as the flower which, when it blooms, spreads its fragrance everywhere and everyone says, 'Oh what a nice flower, what a beautiful fragrance!' We should also be the same way — we should reach out."
"I learned that we have to continually make an effort. If we are trying to do something and we are struggling, we should not drop it and just go home. We should complete the task, and only then come back. I try to apply this in my studies — I continuously make an effort and keep progressing."
"Mainly I have learned that in our lives we need to make a choice about how we can serve — how we can become good. We need to seek out our talents. I will become a teacher. I will teach children these things. I am trying to do this and am now teaching in my mother's school."
